PAUL BOURCQ
PAUL BOURCQ -
Captain- North Carolina Fly Fishing Team
Hometown: Franklin, NC
Age: 26
Paul was raised in Franklin NC, the heart of some of the best trout fishing in the southern Appalachian mountains. As a self taught fisherman Paul has learned from an early age how to catch fish with very little gear or formal training. This adaptive “outside the box” style has been a crucial element in his success in competitive fly fishing.
Paul is an avid single hand and double hand caster and enjoys instruction as much as fishing. In the spring of 2011 Paul earned his FFF Casting Certification. Paul guides and teaches casting at Rivers Edge Outfitters in Cherokee, North Carolina as well as the Highland Hiker in Highlands North Carolina. Along with his guiding Paul splits his duties as an Assistant Coach for Fly Fishing Team USA Youth. A wild trout junkie at heart Paul spends most of his days off chasing fish. His passion and competitive nature lends well to competition fly fishing. Between guiding and training Paul averages 150+ days a year on the water. “I am honored to fish with the members of the NCFFT. I ensure everyone I will do my part to help build fisherman ready for world level competition. The southeast has more competition than anywhere else in the country. We have some top level experienced guys on our squad. It is a pleasure to have such talented hard working fisherman fishing for the NC team and am looking forward to our future.”
