Fly Casting Instructors of the South Eastern Council:
TOM RUEPING
TOM RUEPING began fly fishing as a boy in east Texas, fishing for bass and bream. In the late 70's he began to get more serious about it, when he discovered the mountain trout streams in North Georgia. Tom began hanging out at local fly shops whenever he could, trying to learn everything he could about fly fishing and fly tying. In the early 90's he began teaching fly fishing and fly tying classes at those shops. Tom earned his FFF casting instructor certification in 1994 (in the infancy of the CICP) and is now an FFF Master Instructor. Tom has caught over 60 species of fresh and saltwater game-fish in waters from Costa Rica to Alaska. In 2009, he retired after a 34 year career with the Georgia Dept. of Agriculture and with more free time now, he looks forward to fishing, teaching and mentoring aspiring CCI candidates.
