OSCAR FELIU 

Oscar Feliu



Although Oscar Feliu is not a fly-CASTing instructor, his ON-STREAM program "Life Cycle of the Caddis" incorporates fly-casting techniques to use the wonderful flies that his students create.

OSCAR FELIU is a native of CHILE came to the US in 1969. Here he became a fly-fisher, and fly-tier. As an entomology student he conducted aquatic studies in several Michigan Rivers, his home of twenty years. His innovative fly patterns became well known throughout the Great Lakes region, and were the subject of several newspapers and Magazines articles; Lansing State Journal, FFF Magazine, Trout Canada, Fly-fishing Magazine, Scientific Anglers Quarterly, American Angler, Field & Stream, Fly-fish America, Michigan Out-Of-Doors, etc. Oscar subscribe to the True to Life style of fly tying! He has presented workshops For FFF International festival for 35 years mostly in Montana's Paradise Valley and also made demonstrations in Canada, Italy, and throughout United States. He's a member of Trout Unlimited and The Federation of Fly Fishers for 37 years. Oscar and his wife Bobbye have lived in Central Florida since 1989. Their family is composed of five children (Scott, Kristye, Danny, Christina and Nikole) and two grandchildren(Madisyn Olivia and Macy). Oscar continues to produce new fly patterns for trout, and naturally for Bass and Salt water. He conducts three six-week courses per year on Fly tying and Fishing at The Villages, in Central Florida. He teaches two fly-tying and fly-fishing workshops every summer at the FFF international Show, in Montana and now Colorado. Most of his Trout Fly patterns have been capture on a just released two-part Videos and DVDs - Fly Tying with Oscar Feliu Part One (Caddis Flies), and Part Two (Mayflies). He also has now another two Fly Tying DVDs in HD Form  - the new series called Hooked on Fly Tying by James & Kelly Watt. Also you will find Oscar's fly patterns in the Farrow Allen & Dick Stewart's Books (Flies for Saltwater, Steel-head, Trout, Bass & Pan Fish). His saltwater Patterns can be found in a new Book by Aaron Adams called Saltwater Prey Fish.

 

Oscar is very entertaining - as a singer. He attended Central Michigan University for short while and became a restaurateur and spend 20 years in the business. All the while he maintained a singing career that led him to the world of opera. He was principal tenor in several Central Florida Lyric Opera Company productions: Duke of Matua in Verdi's Rigoletto; Alfredo Germont in Verdi's Latraviata; Mario Cavaradossi in Puccini's Tosca; Canio (Clawn) in Leoncavallo's Ipagliacci; Nemorino in Donizetti's L'elisir D'amore and Danilo in Lehar's Merry Widow. Today Oscar has retired from full production operas, but continues to perform Concerts and Recitals. On October 5th & October 6th , 2011 Oscar will perform in Torino and Piemonte Italy, as principal tenor in Mozart's Coronation Mass. On his return he will continue to perform and teach his beloved Fly-Tying Classes at the Life Long Learning College in the Villages Florida.
