FRIDAY, APRIL 27th is the Catch & Release FUN FISHING DERBY Day for folks who want to have some great fun
fishing the Lake and Smith Creek waters AND support a worthy cause (East Tennessee Casting for Recovery) too.

So while your spouse, partner, significant other is off flailing the waters of north Georgia we would like
to provide YOU with some interesting alternative things to do. Before we can do that we need to find out
where your interests might lie.

visit the location website, see if you might be interested ... then email MIKE ARNOLD and tell him
what you would like to do from that list. Mike and other volunteers will use your input to develop
one or more of these activities for the NON-fisherpersons to enjoy during the Festival.

UNICOI STATE PARK offers the convenience of not having to travel far fom the
lodge to do several insteresting things such as:

TRAIL HIKES - There are FIVE beautiful trails in the park, from a short 1/3 mile Nature Hike to a strenuous
hike to theheadwaters of Smith Creek, and several more in between with lots to see while enjoying the
peace and quite of the north Georgia woods.

MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAIL RIDE - For the more adventurous (and hardy) Unicoi offersa 7.5 mile mountain bike
trail (rated from moderate to strenuous) ... so bring your bike(s) along (we're checking into the avaialility of
rental bikes). 

GEO-CACHING ADVENTURE - Join this hot ticket event and have a great time trying to locate hidden "treasures"
in and around the area. Bring your hand-held GPS and your hiking boots for hours of fun.


HELEN, Georgia and the surrounding area abounds with interesting things
to do and places to see ... such as:

    Artisans Tours (Driving/Walking tours of craftsman's shops, etc) - 9 places around Helen
    Hot Air Balloon Rides 
    Lake Cruises (on Lake Chatuge)
