WANT TO HAVE SOME FISHING FUN ON FRIDAY, APRIL 27TH? 

JOIN US AT OUR "CATCH & RELEASE FUN FISHING DERBY" ON UNICOI STATE PARK LAKE AND SMITH CREEK (ABOVE AND BELOW THE DAM). 

THE COST IS ONLY FIVE DOLLARS ($5.00) PER PERSON AND HALF THE MONEY TAKEN IN WILL BE RETURNED AS PRIZES. THE OTHER HALF WILL GO TO THE EAST TENESSEE CASTING for RECOVERY FUNDRAISING EFFORT.

LAND LUBBERS – ANYONE FISHING FROM THE LAKE SHORE OR FLOATING DOCKS, OR THOSE WHO CHOOSE TO FISH SMITH CREEK VIA WADING OR SHORELINE ACCESS

SHIP-MATES – ANYONE WHO FISHES THE LAKE FROM A HUMAN-POWERED FLOATING DEVICE (CANOE, KAYAK, BELLY-BOAT, ROW-BOAT, ETC (REMEMBER … THERE IS NO PUT-IN RAMP ON THIS LAKE)


THIS WILL BE A POINT-SYSTEM FISHING DERBY WHERE THE FISH ARE MEASURED,  THE LENGTH AND SPECIES WRITTEN ON THE DERBY RECORDING FORM AND RETURNED UNHARMED TO THE WATER.  

FISHING WILL BE FROM 10AM TO 3PM. ALL DERBY FISH RECORDING FORMS MUST BE TURNED IN BY 3:30PM TO BE TALLIED SO THE WINNER(S) CAN BE ANNOUNCED.

POINTS ARE AWARDED TO EACH ANGLER AS FOLLOWS:

     1) ONE (1) POINT is awarded for each INCH OF LENGTH of each fish landed for up to five fish of each species (the five fish limitation keeps someone from landing, say twenty 5-inch bluegills from running away with the contest). 

     2) ONE (1) Additional POINT is awarded for each fish landed while the angler is in (or on) a human-powered loatation device (canoe, kayak, float-tube, personal pontoon boat, kick-boat, 
jon or row boat, etc) 

     3) ONE (1) Additional POINT is awarded for each different SPECIES of fish landed (bluegill, largemouth, smallmouth, creek chub, brown/rainbow/brook trout, black crappie, white
crappie, sunfish - green-eared, long-eared, bluegill, shellcrackers count as seperate species, white bass, striper and wiper are separate also as are the different catfishes (blue, shovelhead, yellow-bellied, etc ) and carp (grass, common, mirrored, horsehead, etc).

     4) ONE (1) Additional  POINT is awarded for each fish caught by flyfishing (flies cast using spinning gear and casting bubbles will not count as being "fly caught").   


As used in each of the rules above, the term LANDED means hooked, brought to hand, measured, recorded on your Derby Recording Form (provided at the kick-off meeting Friday morning) and RELEASED UNHARMED.

THE HIGHEST, SECOND-HIGHEST AND THIRD-HIGHEST TOTAL ACUMULATED POINTS WILL BE THE WINNERS.
