JULIE STALNAKER ~1970 -2010

From UPPER CHATTAHOOCHEE CHAPTER of TROUT UNLIMITED & EUNICE LOVELL (GWFF)
Julie joined Georgia Women Flyfishers in 2002. From the beginning she was a dynamic and dedicated leader. Julie had a wonderful ability to motivate the GWFF membership and to encourage new members and novice fly fishers. Julie served as President in 2004 and 2005. She was Treasurer in 2006 and 2007. Julie was also an active member in the Federation of Fly Fishers and Trout Unlimited. Georgia Women Flyfishers has established a "Julie Stalnaker Georgia TU Trout Camp Fund" to commemorate her dedication to the mentoring of our youth in the sport of fly fishing. Sadly, Julie Stalnaker suffered a brain aneurism on Friday, July 9th, and passed away. Julie is the wife of Duane Stalnaker, a member of the Cohutta TU, creator of the Dream Trip, and frequent speaker at chapter meetings around the state. Julie, while supporting Trout Unlimited, was a very active member of the Georgia Women Fly Fishers. Julie was a friend of UCCTU. In lieu of flowers, Duane asked that donations be made for a Trout Camp Scholarship fund to:

 From BETH TUTTLE
Julie Schaeffer Stalnaker, 40, beloved wife of Duane A. Stalnaker, formerly of Weston, was taken from us too soon on July 9, 2010. in Atlanta, GA. The daughter of Harry and Ellie Schaeffer of Key West, FL, she was born January 7, 1970, in Akron, OH, and moved to Georgia following graduation from The University of Akron. Her career path ranged from real estate to sales, but she found her greatest professional satisfaction working in a small computer firm that was just beginning to grow. She is survived by her husband's parents, Jerry and Avah Stalnaker of Weston; and sister-in-law, DeeAnn Stalnaker Reichner of Cumming, GA. She is also remembered fondly by her parents and her brother, Jeff (Jo Ann) Schaeffer of Manchester, MI; and sister, Jodi (Charles) Fazio of Roswell, GA; in addition to her nieces, Madison and Cathryn; and nephews, Nico and Marco. Her family and friends will remember Julie for her service to many organizations through her interest and skill in fly fishing, including the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Georgia Women Fly Flyfishers, Fly Fishing for Vets, and Casting for Recovery. She participated in these and other charitable works that fostered education, wellness, and healing through outdoor activities. Julie was a strong and vibrant person who touched many different people in many different ways. She was a best friend to many people. She expressed her artistic creativity and passion for life through everything from painting to wedding decorations, and she loved to cook traditional holiday meals for her family. She loved animals, and no unwanted kitten was ever left behind.
There will be a "celebration of her life party" on Saturday, September 4, from 5 to 10 p.m. at 2050 Devereux Chase, Rowell, GA 30075. All are welcome.
A MESSAGE FROM DUANE:
I just wanted to take a minute to sincerely thank everyone who has called, come by the house, brought food, written, sent cards, e-mails, etc... regarding the passing of my wife Julie. Due to the overwhelming response, I just don't how I would be able to respond to everyone individually, so please forgive me. All the words of encouragement and sympathy have meant more to me and her family than any of you will ever know. Julie touched a lot of people's lives and she will be truly missed. Her family, as well as myself, have just been blown away by the response from everyone, she certainly had a lot of friends who cared a great deal for her. When I married Julie, she literally changed my life and made me a lot better person (many of you can attest to that) and my life will never be the same without her, not only was she my wife but she was my best friend. I will miss her terribly. Once again, Thank you to everyone, you have made a very tough time a lot easier to get through, Y'all are the best!!!!
Please keep Duane and their families in your prayers. Condolences can be mailed to: 828 Burton Ridge Drive; Loganville, GA 30052.
